TRANSGRESSIO

The cross-disciplinary art project Transgressio depicts a journey of four artists based in Vienna who share an Italian ancestry. On a film-documented trip to northern Italy, they confront themselves with their roots and the possibilities of their identities. The artist’s autobiographies merge with symbolic images and archetypical scenes inspired by the works of Pier Paolo Pasolini, Italo Calvino and the Holy Bibel. They get tempted, and ‚baptized‘, confused and liberated on their quest to answer Calvino's questions: „Are you traveling to re-experience your past? Or are you traveling to rediscover your future?“ Their transgression of linear structures such as past-present, reality-art and life-death awaits its last step in merging the road movie with a live-performance in which the protagonists continue their transformation and invite the audience to join them.
